Bisilon

Bisilon's land is divided into two main continents with the archipelago nation of Venithos in between.

Each nation is influenced by magic that dictates its environment in one way or another. For example, Rhykos is always in winter, and Venithos is the nation of magic due to a connection with the dead god of chaos.

The sun has unusual movement across the sky, its path rotating once a year, which can have an effect on seasons. In place of an equator are two locations where it is always hot, whose centers are indicated on the map by two red dots. The temperatures are relative however, and the red location in Rhykos is still quite chilly.

Time of year in Bisilon is determined by the Sun's rotation around the sky. Each year begins with the Northern Sunrise, and is split up into 8 months. Months span exactly one season, of which lasts 45 days, and split into 5 weeks lasting 9 days each. As the year passes, the location of the sunrise moves across the horizon before rising in the north in the new year. Each year has two seasonal cycles.

 

What season each month is associated with changes depending on where in the world you are.

For Venithos, the seasons are as follows:

• North: Winter
• Northeast: Spring
• East: Summer
• Southeast: Fall
• South: Winter
• Southwest: Spring
• West: Summer
• Northwest: Fall

 

The months do not have standardized names, and are most commonly referred to by simply the number or the direction of the sun. (ie. someone could refer to 'the 4th month' or 'the Month of the Southeastern Sun', these mean the same thing). It is, however, not uncommon for smaller communities to come up with localized names for the months, though these never really spread far outside of those settlements.
