The mountain the party stands on has completely changed. It's at a much less dramatic angle; it goes up for a bit and the majority of it is flat instead of pointing straight up. The sun is setting. Makani asks the people how bad it is when it gets dark. A male gnome with a really decent beard speaks up. He says people don't really travel at night due to general monsters in the area such as goblins. The party decides to deal with the scale now and rest later, so it doesn't cause any more harm. The ground becomes covered in vines that wrap around people's feet.
Everybody gathers at the foot of the mountain as the vines disappear. It's too steep for carriages, so they must walk. As they make their way up, a dome made up of so many Dancing Lights gathers on top of the mountain. The party sees nothing dangerous in the surrounding woods, just some animals. Oracle makes friends with some of them as Spítha hums while walking, not even stopping to breathe because she doesn't need to.
Makani tells Spítha she is drawing attention to the group, to which she responds that she is bored and will be stealthy when the need arises. The ground then becomes soft underneath them, almost like a bounce house. The Air Genasi have no problem but Remedy sinks into the earth. Spítha starts bouncing and having the time of her life. Makani laments having apparently become a babysitter. Remedy notices the wild magic surges come once every 10 minutes.
The ground returns to normal after a minutes, and 9 more minutes later a dome of soft purple light encases the party. 10 minutes later, the temperature drops by ~20 degrees. 5 minutes of walking later, the ground turns to the same blackish-purple as the band ahead of the party. The shiny terrain extends as far as the eye can see. It's not slippery and is able to be walked on without issue, though attempts to Druidcraft just conjures uprooted plants on top of the terrain.
After walking for a bit the party hears a concerningly loud croak, and soon they come face to face with two corrupted water elementals. A large bipedal red frog emerges, which Remedy reocgnizes as a Slaad. Remedy is staring at it, and in the middle of this stare-down while silence and anticipation enters the air, a sword comes piercing through and slashes at the back of the Slaad as Makani dashes in from the shadows of a tree overhead, uses the momentum to bounce off of a tree trunk, and slashes one more time with the sword passing through, twirling and hopping around this frog making 3 quick attacks in succession as she asks, “What are you waiting for? Fucking get him!”
The party jumps into action, fighting a total of 2 elementals and 2 slaads. Spítha is attacked with a slaad's claws, and eventually the party is overwhelmed. An elf and a gnome come out of the woods after the latter saves the party with a Fireball, and both bear the symbol of the local magic school.
When questioned, Oracle holds up the symbol of the Princess and explain their reason for being here. The two mages are professors from the Volar school sent here for a project. They explain that the ground they are standing on is in fact the massive scale the party is looking for.
